The course is designed for persons who are typically employed in a management, supervisory, engineering, training or auditing capacity and are responsible for confined space related tasks.

It is designed for competent participants to attain a level of knowledge and skill to meet the requirements expressed in the AQTF 2007 Essential Standards for Registration to train and

assess others for nationally recognised AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment in

vocational education and training relating to safe entry and work in confined spaces.



Minimum of 45 hours conducted over five days. This is relative to the participants’ current and required competency and their level of responsibility. This may vary with certain groups.

Supervision Ratio: 1:5


The program is aligned to meet the following units of competency:

  • MSMWHS200 Work safely

  • MSAPMPER200C Work in accordance with an issued permit

  • MSAPMPER205C Enter confined space

  • MSMWHS110 Follow emergency response procedures

  • MSMWHS205 Control Minor Incidents

  • MSAPMPER300C Issue work permits

  • MSMPER201 Monitor and control work permits
